Tim Whiteman’s distinctive and exciting designer-maker practice focuses on the production and commission of furniture and objects.
Tim’s professional design career covers a variety of creative disciplines. He’s been involved in many creative projects from press, prints, television, publications, furniture, architectural and products. Tim’s work is influenced by graphics, producing unique forms with an eye-catching use of colour. With almost two decades of design experience, he continues to draw on his life’s experiences intrigued by the repetition of forms and shapes, creating layers, links and patterns.
Operating from the Midland Atelier, Tim is reconnecting with his family’s pioneering family history in the Midland Region. Many of his pieces “tell a story” referencing his life in Western Australia and featuring landscape influences.
Tim has been involved in a variety of exhibitions, including the prestigious international design fair Salone Internazionale del Mobile in Milan, Italy. This work featured at the Salone Satellite in the “Riches of Isolation” exhibition showcasing distinctive designs inspired by Western Australia’s unique culture and environment. He has also participated in various workshops including the Design Island program - Bay of Fires in Tasmania.
